“As the first U.S. Governor to deliver a State of the State address in this new decade, Governor Paterson has set forth an exemplary plan for spending restraint and investment in economic growth that governors across the nation would do well to follow.

We applaud the call to eliminate the wasteful Empire Zones program and replace it with targeted incentives aimed at new job creation and expansion of growth sector industries in the state. He has made tough choices that will cause short term pain, but protect the public interest for generations to come.
